Laptop computer batteries often run out of power sooner than would be desired. Here are some tips for making them last longer between charges...
a. Screensaver: Change your laptop's screensaver to a blank (White) screen, and set it to turn on within a few minutes of inactivity. Screensavers with graphics and sound effects will drain the power more quickly, whereas a blank screen will conserve power.
b. Hard Drive & Disk Drive: Avoid using the hard drive and disk drive excessively. Because these are mechanical mechanisms, they consume more power. In some cases, upgrading the amount of memory will reduce hard drive usage. If your laptop is set to run anti-virus scans periodically, only allow this to happen when you have it connected to AC power, because this substantially increases hard drive usage while it is running. If you are using an older laptop with no hard drive, consider using a VDISK or RAMDISK to reduce disk drive usage.
c. Sound/Music: If you want to listen to music while operating the computer, consider using a separate radio, cassette recorder, or CD player. If the CD player's batteries run out, you will be able to keep using the computer, which is probably your higher priority.
d. USB Devices: If your laptop computer has a USB port, keep in mind that some USB devices draw power from the computer's battery while they are plugged in to it. Avoid leaving such devices plugged in longer than they need to be.
e. Software: Different software which accomplishes the same functions may cause your laptopr to use different amounts of power. If the software utilizes memory more effectively (rather than reading/writing to the disk or hard drive frequently), it may use less power. Software which places less demand on the processor can also reduce power consumption in some cases, along with programs which use a dark-colored background. Avoid running software directly from a 3.5" disk or CD-ROM, because it will cause these mechanisms to run frequently and drain the power more quickly.
a. You must initially give lithium-ion battery a 12-14 hour charge on the proper charger.Try to use the home charger more often than the cigarette lighter charger.
b. Not in the high temperature environment for charging lithium-ion battery, make sure the environment temperature is suitable temperature.
c. Lithium-ion battery prefers a partial rather than a full discharge, frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible.
d. Do not use higher than its threshold voltage to charge lithium-ion battery, as it would become unsafe.
e. Purchase spare lithium-ion battery for later use if your battery series get weak over times.
f. Keep rechareable lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid a hot situation. For prolonged storage, keep lithium-ion battery at a 40% charge level.
g. Do not short-circuit. A short-circuit may cause severe damage to lithium-ion battery.
a. When using a laptop as a desktop replacement the battery should not be left in for long periods of time. The laptop will over time discharge the Lapotp battery. Remove the battery, making sure that it is charged to 50% and store it in a dry, warm place. Ensure that it is wrapped protectively and nothing will be dropped on it.
b. The battery should be re-installed every 3-4 weeks and allowed to fully discharge. Leaving a battery in storage for longer than this without using could cause the battery to fully discharge as the circuitry of lithium-ion battery itself consumes power.
c. Leaving lithium-ion battery in a laptop while using an electrical outlet for long periods of time will keep the battery in a constant state of charging up and that will reduce the life cycle of the battery.
